Photography has been Heidi Leekley’s passion since she was old enough to turn the pages of her family photo albums. From the start, looking at pictures of family gatherings, vacations and the smiles of generations gone by gave Heidi a rush. Her heart and mind were transported by each memory—caught forever by a camera lens.
For a time, life took Heidi in another important direction, working with children. As a developmental therapist for children with special needs, she found joy in the (often unspoken) connections she established with her young clients.
Yet, photography remained a constant in Heidi’s career. One of her favorite jobs was in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Duke Hospital as the newborn photographer. She loved being part of such a joyous time in families’ lives.
Today, Heidi is a photographer, wife and mother to three boys, living in Durham, North Carolina. Since her first son was born in 2009, Heidi realized firsthand what all parents say…that children grow up too fast! She is passionate about capturing priceless moments for parents to treasure forever. Her longtime work with children makes her a natural family photographer. Children feel instantly at ease with Heidi, giving her photographs authenticity, warmth and personality.
Heidi’s photographs tell stories that go far beyond words. It would be her honor to tell the story of your family, caught in the blink of an eye but lasting for generations to come.
“A photograph is a joyous piece of your life that holds more than just ink, paper or pixels. It holds memories.” -Heidi Leekley
